Shasta EDC Welcomes New President/CEO

The Economic Development Corporation of Shasta County (Shasta EDC) proudly announces the appointment of Rebecca L. Baer as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Baer will start with Shasta EDC April 1, 2024. 

Baer brings to Shasta EDC a remarkable blend of leadership, innovation, and community engagement spanning over two decades across multiple industries. Baer’s work experience includes commercial real estate, start-up CEO, airport administration, and non-profit management which align with her responsibilities as President/CEO.

Baer most recently worked for United Way of Northern California as the Chief Development Officer. Prior to moving to the North State, she promoted the city of San Jose as VP – Marketing and Communication for Team San Jose, managed air service development and marketing for San Jose International Airport, served as Director of the MBA and Graduate Certificate Program at Ball State University, and early in her work career was a commercial real estate broker in Indiana. Baer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from Ball State University.

Baer brings a dynamic leadership style and a proven track record of driving growth and prosperity to our community.

In her new role, Baer will lead Shasta EDC in its mission to promote sustainable economic development, attract and retain primary businesses to the region, support airport development, sustain and grow the Start-up/Entrepreneurial community, and enhance the quality of life for residents throughout the Shasta County region. She will work closely with stakeholders, government agencies, and community partners to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and collaboration.
