Axcient, the leading cloud solution for disaster recovery and business continuity, is the fastest growing security company in the United States. It’s the 4th fastest growing startup in the Silicon Valley. Did you know this Silicon Valley startup is an important presence in Shasta County?
About Axcient
Axcient is an entirely new type of cloud platform that eliminates data loss, keeps applications up and running, and makes sure IT infrastructures never go down. Businesses, who have down time, know how critical it is to keep data safe. This Axcient YouTube video makes what they do much easier to understand.
Founded in 2007 with headquarters in Mt. View, CA, Axcient has been named the fastest growing security company in the nation and the fastest growing company in Silicon Valley. Gartner (a large independent reporting firm) recently ranked Axcient as the #1 Recovery-as-a-Service company in the nation! A few brand name customers include Budget Rental Car, the Buffalo Bills, Union Bank, the Make-a-Wish foundation, U.S. Oil and Cellular One.
Axcient is an established product with nearly 4,000 customers across 15 verticals. They have nearly 4 Petabytes of data protected. In layman’s terms, that equates to 10 billion files.
Axcient launched the Redding Demand Generation center in March of last year. They have grown from 7 employees to 17 thus far. Axcient hires applicants they feel will fit well into their company culture. Enthusiasm, drive, and often a college degree are pre-requisites.
Axcient’s Impact on Local and Personal Economies
Axcient has had a significant impact on the Shasta County economy as well as employees’ personal lives. Five employees have gotten engaged and / or married so far. Several have bought homes or new cars. This all speaks to financial stability. The intention is to grow the Redding office exponentially – bringing more great jobs to the area.
Axcient’s Culture
At Axcient, the culture is definitely work hard/play hard. Their philosophy recognizes that when people grow, companies do too. They are focused on building an environment where their employees feel valued, challenged and capable of making a difference. Axcient’s Corporate Culture Video tells more.
Axcient Paving the Way in Shasta County
There was a well-planned collaboration of people and businesses to pave the way for Axcient to come to Redding, CA in Shasta County.
Rick Srbocca, whose work is building businesses, had the initial relationship with Axcient in Silicon Valley. He knew of their interest to expand to another area so he then met with the Shasta County EDC.
The Shasta EDC provided the resources to support Srbocca in getting Axcient to the region. Firstly, it was class A space provided by Frozen Gourmet; next, a new tech utility discount from REU; furniture donated by CH2M Hill and delivered by Michael’s Office Furniture, and signage by McHale Sign Company. This was followed by two aircraft trips provided by Lyle Tullis and IASCO to get the Axcient executive staff to Redding to review the package.
This very collaboration is what Shasta County is interested in bringing to other Silicon Valley startups. There are often aspects of a startup easily handled in a more rural setting. Benefits are many including lower overhead and easy access to the Northstate’s vast outdoor opportunities. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Shasta EDC.
