“Amazon’s arrival feels like the culmination of a vision that led city officials to develop the Stillwater site in 2008…We’ve all been waiting for something like this, something big.”
Jack Munns, Mayor of City of Redding
Redding celebrated a major economic milestone in August 2025 as Amazon broke ground on a 95,000-square-foot delivery station in the Stillwater Business Park. The project represents one of the largest private investments in the region in years and fulfills a long-standing vision to bring major employers to the site.
The new facility will create roughly 300 local jobs, ranging from package sorters to delivery drivers, with opportunities for flexible scheduling that allows workers to select shifts through an app. Amazon noted that wages at rural delivery stations typically exceed regional averages, providing new income opportunities for Shasta County residents. The company expects the site to be operational within 12 to 16 months.
Community leaders hailed the groundbreaking as a turning point for Redding. Shasta EDC President Rebecca Baer emphasized that the project validates decades of planning to make Stillwater a shovel-ready industrial park, designed to attract businesses prepared to build immediately. City and county officials, along with State Assemblywoman Heather Hadwick, highlighted the convenience Amazon brings to rural areas, where quick delivery of essential goods is especially valuable.
The ripple effects extend beyond Amazon. The sale of the 34-acre parcel adds momentum to Stillwater, where several other companies—including Frito Lay, Cal Fire, Beneficial Insectary, and Fabric Mass Timber—have also purchased or are negotiating parcels. With more than half of Stillwater’s land now sold, leaders see the park becoming a dynamic hub of innovation, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.
For residents, the new Amazon facility means jobs, faster access to goods, and proof that Redding can attract world-class companies. For the city, it marks a breakthrough in economic development, positioning Redding as a growing hub for Northern California’s business future.
